Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Pencil Art AI ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website located at pencilart.app (the "Service").

Your Privacy Matters

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials when you create an account
  • Images: Photographs and images you upload for processing
  • User Content: Titles, descriptions, and settings you provide for your artwork
  • Communications: Messages you send to us for support or feedback

1.2 Information Automatically Collected

  • Usage Data: How you interact with our Service, features used, and time spent
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers
  • Log Data: Server logs including access times, pages viewed, and errors
  • Optional Analytics Data: If you allow analytics, Google Analytics receives usage events, page information, and browser/device information and may process your IP address. We do not send your account ID, email, uploaded photos, or artwork to Google Analytics.

1.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Essential cookies and browser storage support authentication, security, and saved privacy choices. Optional Google Analytics is disabled until you select Allow analytics. Reject optional keeps analytics disabled and does not prevent you from reading guides or using the service. We store your choice in this browser for up to 180 days; if storage is unavailable, it applies to the current page session. You can change your choice using Privacy settings in the footer or the button below. Rejecting analytics stops future analytics collection and removes the first-party Google Analytics cookies that this site can access. It does not delete information already received by Google.

You can also manage cookies and site storage in your browser. Blocking essential storage may affect sign-in and saved preferences.

1.4 Advertising Cookies

Advertising is currently paused. We do not currently load advertising code or set advertising cookies. If advertising is enabled, third-party vendors including Google and its partners may place and read cookies, use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve, measure, and personalize ads based on visits to this and other websites. You can read Google's explanation of partner-site data use at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide Services: Process your images using AI technology and deliver transformed artwork
  • Account Management: Create and maintain your user account and preferences
  • Communication: Send service updates, respond to inquiries, and provide support
  • Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve our Service and develop new features
  • Security: Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws and regulations

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

3.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate our Service:

  • Firebase (Google): For authentication, database storage, and file hosting
  • Google Analytics: For optional usage analytics after you allow analytics; advertising signals and account identification are disabled in our integration
  • Google AI generation service: Receives the image and generation instructions needed to create your pencil-style artwork
  • Paystack: Processes credit-package payments and returns payment verification details

3.2 Advertising Partners

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our website or other websites. You can learn more about Google's advertising technology and manage ad personalization through Google's advertising settings.

Participating advertising vendors also offer personalized-ad choices through YourAdChoices. Advertising consent is separate from this site's optional analytics choice. Before advertising is enabled, we will configure the applicable advertising consent messages, including a Google-certified consent management platform for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, and provide a way to revisit those choices.

3.3 Optional Community Publishing

Artwork is private by default. If you explicitly publish a sketch to the Community Gallery, we create a separate public copy of the generated sketch and display it on your public creator profile under a non-identifying default handle. We do not publish the source photo, your email address, or your account name. You can unpublish at any time, which removes the listing from the gallery and your profile and deletes its public image copy.

Signed-in users may privately report published artwork for safety, privacy, or copyright concerns. We retain limited report and moderation records to prevent abuse and enforce gallery safety rules.

Signed-in users can also like and comment on published artwork. Public comments display the comment text and the commenter's generated public handle, but not their account name or email. Like identities, comment ownership records, and reports are not public. Users can delete their own comments, artwork creators can moderate comments on their artwork, and we may hide repeatedly reported comments. Account deletion removes that user's likes and comments.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information when required by law or to:

  • Comply with legal process or government requests
  • Protect our rights, property, or safety
  • Enforce our Terms of Service
  • Investigate potential violations or fraud

3.5 What We Don't Do

  • We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties
  • We do NOT use your images for training our AI models
  • We do NOT share your content publicly without your permission
  • We do NOT send unsolicited marketing emails

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Storage Locations

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services. Images and account data are stored in secure, encrypted databases with access controls and monitoring.

4.2 Security Measures

  • Encryption in transit and at rest
  • Secure authentication and authorization
  • Regular security updates and monitoring
  • Access controls and audit logs
  • Firebase security rules and permissions

4.3 Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. You can delete your account and associated data at any time.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request access to your personal information
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain processing activities

6. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data during international transfers.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated through email or prominent notices on our Service.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used, and the right to delete personal information.

10. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability.
